Word of mouth is free, and who doesn’t love free anyways?
Throw Away Your Lock & Key, & Get Found Online:

What’s the point of putting your efforts and ideas into a blog if people can’t find it on the web? For blogs to function optimally, they need to be optimized for SEO or search engine optimization. SEO simply implies that the article is created or modified in such a way that it appears on top and on the first page in the various search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. And everyone knows it’s always better to be on top….of the search engines that is! Most internet users search through various search engines, to find the latest and greatest blogs, websites, and content. If you don’t appear on the first page of these mediums, say goodbye to your following, and hello to your seamlessly wasted efforts. To earn more clicks and views, you must be on the top of the search engines to become visible to the online consumers browsing for content, solutions, and your products and services. For an article or blog to be “search engine optimized” means to be exposed and made visible to online users, and we know what that means: more traffic equals more business which in hand means more ROI.
The Key to a Good Blog is Good Keywords:

It is extremely important that when optimizing your blog article and content, you must know the exact targeted keywords that are commonly searched for in that niche or related article. For example, if the keyword for your article is “lose weight”, the keyword needs to be used several times in the content to make it relevant for search engines. It is also essential that the keyword usage should be natural and not forced in the writing style so that the article is readable and not sound “un-natural”.
Apart from the main keywords, there are other keyword related phrases that need to be incorporated in the articles. For your blog to earn high rankings on search engines, it must emphasize other related phrases to capture more relevant readers. These phrases should be close alternatives to the principal keywords; a good example is when you have a keyword of “lose weight”, you can use its closely related terms like “weight loss, loose weight, loosing weight, reducing weight etc.” these keyword related phrases makes your content more relevant to readers search inquires. Other programs, such as Google Ad Words, can help bloggers decide on relevant and worthwhile keywords to bring more relevant readers to you website or blog.
Get LinkedIn with Blogs:

The main intention of writing content for blogs is to increase online traffic, viewership and clicks to your website.  Most online entrepreneurs use blogs as a prerequisite to their website, so users will get engaged and consumed and then click on their website link to read more. Hook, Line, & Sinker, it’s that easy. By providing links on your blog, the user can gain more information about what you offer as easy as a click of a button. The use of blogs and search engine optimization is one of the greatest keys to running successful online businesses. If a blog is search engine optimized, then it will always rank on the first pages on the online search engines hence making it achieve a very high number of clicks.

THE #HASHTAG 411

The 411 on Hashtags

What does the # symbol mean to you? If you asked someone ten years ago, the answer would probably be ‘”um er…A NUMBER?” In this day and age of Social Media  #NUMBER is an OBVIOUSLY thing of the past! Social media in essence, has changed the dictionary as we know it now we can go ahead and reference the Urban Dictionary for words like i.e. hashtag, YOLO, IDGAF. #HASHTAGS is the new NORM i.e. “let’s take the dogs out #Menilpark = text message from my boyfriend. Granted he has misused the symbol entirely but he sure has caught the #### bug!

So, how did this even start? Twitter of course! Twitter started the #hashtag trend, which in turn was followed by its social counterparts, Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr, and its master Google+. With all the hype behind the #hashtag, Facebook finally jumped on the bandwagon, and now the #numbersymbol is Social Media’s #trendsetter tool.

Mastering the #hashtag especially when it comes to BRANDING takes experimenting, testing, practice, and trial & error until figured out. Here are a few #hashtag tips/techniques to get the ball rolling!

Enhance through Emphasis

#Hashtags were invented to make the words stand out and to enhance the message of the text through emphasis. Using emphasis is by far the easiest and most effective way to use the #hashtag on a regular basis. Using descriptive words that are #hashtagged helps the message stand out amongst the oversaturated stream of #hashtags, while emphasizing the overall meaning of the message. #staysociallysavvy

Being Trendy Is Trendy

This is by far the most used technique by Twitter users, but seems to be the least useful for local businesses. Trying to “trend surf” your local business can be dangerous, and many local businesses have drowned in the process. Trendy topics can be effective, but only when done correctly. Latch on to campaigns that are associated and relevant to your local business. If you are a record shop, latch on the local music festivals, radio campaigns, and concerts in your area.

Get Personal

Making personalized #hashtags can make you a winner, and a big one at that. Many brands have miserably failed at this, mostly because brand cyber bullies vandalize their message. If you explore this route, you can use it to your advantage, promoting your brand when you have something strong to say. When people are attached to your brand, and like what they see, they will use it in a positive fashion and your brand can spread like viral wildfire. Keeping your message positive, strong, and meaningful, and you may find that your business will hit the #hashtag jackpot with this technique.

So here’s the 411 on #hashtags:  #hashtags will work effectively when not overused. Using #hashtags correctly will highlight your message, and expose your brand to a wider range of potential customers AND at the end of the day that’s what WE ALL WANT!!

Twitter Word of Mouth on Steroids

Twitter Word of Mouth on Steroids

Word of mouth is a vital part of marketing any business, and the best part is, it’s free. Who doesn’t like free, right? But what happens when people have negative things to say about your brand? For Domino’s, this was the case. Domino’s, the grandfather of all pizza chains, has been around for 50+ years, so it was an obvious assumption that their pizza tastes great. Wrong! Domino’s finished dead last in consumers taste preference, DROPPING IN REPEAT BUSINESS AND SALES. But wait, it gets better! Domino’s woke up one day and said, hey lets type in Domino’s Pizza in the Twitter search bar – and oh boy, were they get taken aback with the tweetfuls of negative feedback. The “cardboard pizza” and “tart pizza sauce” consumer revolt was on an upswing and Domino’s had to take action fast to maintain any kind of brand loyalty they had left.

Domino’s found that Twitter was not only a platform to gain consumer insight, but an easy, creative, personal = BRILLIANT way to engage with the root of all business “CUSTOMERS”. They revamped their website, featuring a YouTube documentary “Domino’s CEO’s, chefs, and crew tackle the tweets head on.” To make a long story short first they revised the awful recipe. Then they reached out to the ACTUAL TWITTER HANDLES that tweeted the negative feedback. They hand delivered the revised pizza fresh and in return the feedback was GLOWING!

THAT MY FRIENDS is how Domino’s used WORD OF MOUSE to gain back the unhappy customers trust and build out a large/growing LOYAL BRAND ADVOCACY.

This story highlights the impact of Twitter, and how ONLINE PRESENCE IS ESSENTIAL when building and maintaining personal customer relationships.

Customers want to be heard! PEOPLE WANT THEIR OPINIONS TO MATTER!  Bottom Line!!

So here’s the MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION –

Do you check your Twitter on a daily basis, to see what people are saying about your brand??? These days a business can’t afford avoiding the VIRAL MARKET. So help your brand before you get a VIRAL BACKLASH, and keep in touch with your fans on Twitter, use the search tab to see your brands relevance and create those priceless brand advocates. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for leaving your brand advocates unanswered (period)!!!

Did You Really Post That!?

Did You Really Just Post That?

Have you ever found yourself sitting behind the computer screen wondering why David keeps posting pictures of his ugly dog? Thinking why Matt keeps poking you, and what does that even mean? Or why Sarah tagged me in the picture that she looks great in, while I look like a bug hit me square in the eye?

Welcome my friends, to the Book of FACES!

Almost everyone you know is a Facebook user. I recently changed my settings to see all friends’ updates. While I enjoy keeping up with my Facebook pals via the click of a button…I am constantly taken aback by the blatant narcissistic and downright offensive posts. Becoming more and more annoyed I kept scrolling to see what I would find. Then, it was in that scrolling that I had a moment of enlightenment. They knew what they were doing, and it was just a joke… wasn’t it? Which brings us to our next topic, Facebook etiquette.

Tagging friends in pictures you know they look bad in. We all love when we get a good picture of our self, but what about your friends? It is bad enough you post the bad picture for the world to see, but tagging them too?

Selfies. There’s nothing worse than seeing a bathroom selfie. There are just some places a camera doesn’t belong, and in the bathroom, with you, your shirt off, isn’t one.

Liking your status. We get it, you posted it, and we will go ahead and assume you like it!

Sending game requests. In the real world people do not have time to feed their sheep, make sure to keep their farm watered, or crush candy.

Checking me into places. Not all people want the world to know where, who, what and when! I am sure that when I go to happy hour, I don’t want my boss seeing I’m at Kung Fu Saloon, playing video games, downing a beer or 10, with my coworker. Come on people its called privacy!

Don’t suffer from Facebook Jealousy. If you haven’t gotten the hint, people tend to post the best parts of their lives, like amazing 5 star vacation’s, spending time with beautiful people, sharing pictures of their new Whiteflash bling,  Louboutin red soles, the pool party hosted at the HUGE house you could fit your whole family, and your family’s family in. No need for jealousy, do you think they would post their overdraft fees, bed head, burnt dinner, or their Friday night at home, alone, with their dog/grandma?

YEAH THAT’S WHAT WE THOUGHT!
